Overview

AnimeGrids is a daily anime knowledge grid. This page explains what data we collect and how it is used. We aim to collect as little as possible to keep the game running.

Analytics & Performance

We use Datadog Real User Monitoring (RUM) to understand how the site performs and is used in aggregate.

• Datadog RUM provides error tracking, performance monitoring, browser and device diagnostics, and aggregate usage analytics.

Datadog RUM is configured to mask user input. We do not use these services to collect your name, email address, or MyAnimeList account information.

Game Progress

Your puzzle progress and streaks are stored locally in your browser. When you complete a grid, its nine answers are stored in our backend with your Supabase anonymous user ID so we can calculate rarity percentiles for that puzzle. This data is not sold or shared with advertisers.

Browser Storage

We store game state in your browser so the site can remember puzzle progress, completed puzzles, streaks, stats, and whether you have seen the how-to-play dialog.

We also store a Supabase anonymous session in your browser's local storage. We send its random user ID to Datadog RUM to measure return visits, archive navigation, completion prompts, sharing, stats usage, and other retention patterns. The same ID prevents one browser from contributing multiple percentile entries for a puzzle. It contains no name or email address. Clearing site data creates a new anonymous user.

Third-Party Data

Anime and metadata shown in the game are provided via the MyAnimeList API. AnimeGrids is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by MyAnimeList. Your searches within the game are used only to complete puzzles and are not tied to your MyAnimeList account.
